Thiopental Anaphylaxis



Abstract
Thiopental was introduced into clinical use by Lundy in 1934, and has been used widely as one of the safest intravenous anesthetics all over the world. Hence, many informations concerning the effects of thiopental and its side effects have been derived from numerous investigators. Dune¢¥_ee had collectei report on nearly 200,000 thiopental administrations of Which 1 : 2870 ended in a fatality directly attributable; to the drug. Edward and his colleagues placed 1G7 out of 589 deaths caused by anesthesia in the category of immediate cardiovascular collapse following the injection of an intravenous bartliturates.
We have experience] several cases developing rash after administration of thiopental intravenously, especially one case was very similar to those reported as thiopental anaphylaxis by some authors
